Australia have named a 34-man train-on squad comprised of players chosen from NRL clubs failing to make the play-offs.
The group includes Gold Coast Titans half-back Preston Campbell, who announced his decision to retire at the end of the season, bringing to an end a 14-year career.
Additions will be made as play-off teams fall by the wayside, and will form the basis of the team to play in the annual fixture between the Australian Prime Minister's XIII and Papua New Guinea in Lae on September 25.
Australia will announce their squad for the one-off Test against New Zealand in Newcastle on October 16 and the Four Nations tournament, which starts on October 28, on October 3.
