McKendry comes into New Zealand squad
New Zealand will be without Parramatta Eels prop forward Fuifui Moimoi for the Four Nations Series due to a broken arm.
The Kiwis have called up Penrith's Sam McKendry as a replacement.
Moimoi's withdrawal further weakens the Kiwis' pack after New Zealand Warriors prop Sam Rapira pulled out for personal reasons.
McKendry was originally named in the New Zealand Maori team to face England next Saturday at Mount Smart Stadium.
The 21-year-old is now likely to make Test debut for the Kiwis against Samoa on the same day, and could face England in the Four Nations opener in Wellington on Saturday week.
He is one of three potential debutants in a 23-man squad to face Samoa, alongside Lewis Brown and Antonio Winterstein.
