Kiwi winger turns back on Quins to join Biarritz

Harlequins RL are threatening to take legal action against Henry Fa'afili after learning that he has agreed to switch codes and join Biarritz. Fa'afili has turned his back on a move to the Twickenham Stoop in order to join the French rugby union club. The deal has angered Quins, who say the New Zealand winger has already signed a contract with them for the 2008 season. Fa'afili, 27, who was the leading tryscorer in Super League in 2007 with 21 touchdowns for Warrington, signed a two-year deal with the Londoners last month after being released by the Wolves.

Integrity

But it has now emerged that the former Auckland Warrior, who won 10 caps for the Kiwis, has joined up with Biarritz on a two-year contract. "Henry Fa'afili and his agent have acted with no integrity whatsoever," Harlequins chairman Ian Lenagan told the League Express newspaper. "If they think I will sit back and do nothing, then they are wrong. We will challenge this legally, and in Europe if we have to." Meanwhile, Harlequins have given a new 12-month contract to second row forward Joe Mbu but former Bradford winger Andy Smith, 23, has joined National League One club Halifax on a one-year deal.
