Tiger down in the Jungle

Castleford threequarter Kirk Dixon is set to miss the Tigers' Super League XIII opener.

Last season's top tryscorer injured for opener against Dragons

Castleford threequarter Kirk Dixon is set to miss the Tigers' Super League XIII opener against the Catalans Dragons. The former Hull FC centre was the Tigers' leading tryscorer en route to promotion last season, but has sustained a broken toe. Dixon and back-row forward Awen Guttenbeil both missed the 30-16 pre-season defeat to Huddersfield Giants at the weekend through injury. Guttenbeil should return in time for the February 9 opener following his hamstring injury, but Dixon is set for a four-week spell on the sidelines. Castleford secured promotion from National League One last season after finishing top of the table and then seeing off Widnes in the Grand Final.
