Rovers boss challenges players to clinch top six finish

Hull KR head coach Justin Morgan hailed his players after they produced one of their best performances of the season to see off Catalans Dragons 30-16 at Craven Park. The Robins scored five tries to secure just their second win in eight league games and keep alive their hopes of reaching the play-offs. Morgan had suggested before the game that four wins out of their five remaining games could see them make the cut and he admits that the belief in the camp is growing. "Our destiny is in our hands," he said. "We've refrained from talking about it but it's something that gives us inspiration. "I think that if we win all our remaining games then we'll make it - if we drop one then we'll need a few results to go our way."

Really good

Morgan, who saw two quick-fire tries from Ben Fisher and Ben Cockayne end Catalans' resistance, also praised his side's defensive effort as Catalans failed to breach the Rovers defence at regular intervals. "It was a good job," he said. "I thought defensively we were very good and our honesty was good. We've had some issues with our presence at marker but thought we defended plays really well. "It was a really good team performance and some of the young kids stepped up to the plate. "Kris Welham will be a very good rugby league player with a little bit more weight on him, Chaz I'Anson slotted in nicely, Kirk Netherton did a good job and there were good contributors from 17 good players. "We got the win without some good personnel against a team that has been the most consistent team all season in terms of their performances."
Dragons dismay
Catalans coach Mick Potter was left to rue his side's poor decision-making as they slipped to a second straight loss, although had they have taken their chances they could have kept up their pursuit of the top two. With the score poised at 18-10 with 30 minutes remaining, Thomas Bosc wasted a fine chance to put his side back in contention and left the coach disappointed. "I can't remember being more disappointed this year," he said. "I was disappointed with our handling in the first half. "I think that Hull KR fully deserved the win tonight. They played with a good shape and with some good enthusiasm. None of our players could tackle Stanley Gene. "They were a different team from when I last saw them lose to Hull and that's of credit to the coach and to the team. "The players should take this as a wake-up call for the rest of the season and we really need to improve our ball handling. "Call it a wake-up call, call it what you like. It's not a performance we want again, because if we do then we'll get beaten again."
