Sinfield predicts a surprise 'bolter'
New Leeds signing Danny Buderus is relishing the prospect of his first taste of Super League next month.
The former Newcastle Knights star is sidelined after an off-season biceps operation on his right arm, but is targeting a return to action in the World Club Challenge against Manly Sea Eagles on March 1.
He will miss Friday night's season opener against Celtic Crusaders at Headingley and is keen to get into the domestic action as soon as possible.
"I love watching the Super League," Buderus told
Sky Sports News. "I think the talent and the skill over here is great. Obviously St Helens and Wigan and Warrington have all got great line-ups and great squads.
"It's also exciting watching Castleford and all those sorts of teams play. The relegation thing is not in it this year, but I used to love watching all those games.
"I've watched it for a lot of years and it would have been one of those regrets if I didn't come over and play one year."
The 31-year-old Buderus has captained New South Wales 15 times in State of Origin.
Leeds skipper Kevin Sinfield is predicting surprises in Super League XIV and expects this season to be the most competitive yet.
He told
Sky Sports News: "There's always a bolter that comes from nowhere, that's off the radar - they get a great start and they're in the mix.
"There's nobody I'd say that's out of it and that's the beauty of this competition now. Ten years ago you could turn up and you'd expect to win, whereas now it's not the case. If you don't turn up and you're not quite right, you'll get beat."
