Warrington have confirmed that prop Steve Pickersgill has been recalled from his loan spell at Widnes.

Wolves add Pickersgill to options for run-in

Warrington boss Tony Smith has confirmed that prop Steve Pickersgill has been recalled from his loan spell at Widnes. The Wolves had already brought winger Kevin Penny back from the club as injuries to several first-team players left them short for the season's run-in. And Pickersgill, who joined the Vikings with Penny in May, will also return to the Halliwell Jones Stadium as Smith gears up for the Challenge Cup final at the end of the month. "We need both of them this week," he said. "We are down on troops. There is a fair chance both of them will be participating this week. "It's nice they've been able to keep their form up with Widnes and hopefully we'll get the benefits of these young guys coming back fully tuned."

Injury boost

Warrington are also boosted by the news that utility back Chris Riley is set to be available for Friday's match against Wigan. Riley was stretchered off during the Challenge Cup semi-final win over the the Warriors and had been expected to face a lengthy lay-off, but Smith has confirmed there is no long-term damage. "Chris was out of hospital that night and back at training the next morning, although he didn't actually train," he said. "He's all well and good now and will be up for selection this week."
