Forward opts against appealing against suspension
Gareth Hock's two-year ban for failing a drugs test has been confirmed by the RFL after the Wigan forward opted against appealing.
Hock had tested following Wigan's home Super League match against Salford on June 5 - with traces of Benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine, found in his urine sample.
The 25-year-old had admitted the offence however he still had the option of appealing against the mandatory two-year suspension.
However the Great Britain international has opted against disputing the length of the ban - and will now be unable to play again until June 23, 2011.
A statement from the RFL read: "The RFL can confirm that the deadline for Wigan Warriors second row Gareth Hock to appeal against his mandatory two-year suspension for a breach of the sport's anti-doping regulations has now passed.
"Hock formally admitted the offence earlier this month and had until last Thursday, August 20, to appeal against the imposition of a two-year ban.
"The player has not lodged an appeal and consequently remains suspended from all competitions for a two-year period from June 23, 2009."
