Castleford coach Daryl Powell knows he has a big decision to make on Marc Sneyd ahead of the Tigers’ playoff clash with Warrington at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle on Thursday.

Sneyd was dropped for the Tigers’ 41-0 defeat against St Helens last time out despite being Super League’s top point-scorer over the regular season.

The stand-off, who is leaving for Hull FC at the end of the season, has been named in the 19-man provisional squad for the clash against the Wolves but Powell must choose whether to start him or go with the half-back combination of Jamie Ellis and Liam Finn.

Another defeat would end Castleford’s season while a win put them through to a semi-final against St Helens or Wigan.

"I'm still working on the team. Obviously I've got a decision to make at half-back, similar to what I had to make last week,” Powell told the RFL’s official website.

"We're just trying to find a combination that will work for us at this point in time.

"We didn't get the job done so there's potential for a couple of changes in the team but we haven't got an awful lot of scope to make too many."

Retained

Jake Webster has not been included by Castleford after suffering a blow to the head against Saints but every other player who featured last Friday has been named in the squad.

Warrington coach Tony Smith has made just one change to the 19-man squad he named prior to the Wolves’ narrow victory over Widnes last time out.

Full-back Matthew Russell misses out after picking up facial injuries against the Vikings, with Paul Wood being brought in to take his place.

The Wolves were beaten 40-6 at Castleford earlier this year and half-back Stefan Ratchford says the Tigers are still very dangerous despite their poor showing against St Helens.

He told Warrington’s official website: “It’s a difficult place to go. It’s a smaller pitch and their fans are very loud throughout the game which seems to give them a boost.

“Over the past three or four weeks their form has been a bit hit and miss but we won’t look too much into that. They have quality all over the park.

“Players like Michael Shenton and Justin Carney on the wing can have a real impact on the game. If their forwards get on a roll they can dominate the middle too.”

Castleford squad: Dixon, Shenton, Carney, Dorn, Sneyd, Lynch, Milner, Huby, Millington, Hauraki, Massey, Clark, Holmes, Wheeldon, Ellis, Channing, Clare, Finn, Jewitt.

Warrington squad: Asotasi, Atkins, C Bridge, Currie, England, B Evans, R Evans, Harrison, Higham, Hill, Laithwaite, J Monaghan, M Monaghan, Myler, O'Brien, Ormsby, Ratchford, Waterhouse, Wood.
