Scotland have recalled number eight Simon Taylor for the RBS Six Nations clash with England at Murrayfield on Saturday.
However, there is no place in Frank Hadden's line-up for veteran lock Scott Murray after both Nathan Hines and Scott MacLeod overcame knocks.
Taylor will make his first appearance since the World Cup quarter-final defeat to Argentina after recovering from a hand injury.
"Simon Taylor has played well in the three games for his club since recovering from a hand injury and he is now ready to return to the national side," Hadden said.
The Stade Francais back-row wins his 59th cap at the expense of Kelly Brown, who drops to the bench, and Hadden has shown belief in his team by making just one further change with Graeme Morrison replaces Glasgow Warriors team-mate Andy Henderson at inside centre.
"Graeme is being rewarded for his outstanding performances for the Scotland A team, away in Italy and then against Ireland A at Perth," Hadden added.
The captaincy remains with scrum-half Mike Blair with regular skipper Jason White named on the bench despite having recovered from a head injury.
England
England were forced into a late change when Danny Cipriani was sent home from the squad after breaking a curfew.
Gloucester's Iain Balshaw - originally dropped in favour of the Wasps star - is reinstated at full-back, with Sale fly-half Charlie Hodgson called up to the replacements' bench.
Also starting the Calcutta Cup game are hooker Lee Mears, in for Mark Regan, and flanker Tom Croft in the other two changes made by head coach Brian Ashton from the victory in Paris two weeks ago.
Ashton's two other changes come in the forwards with experienced Bristol hooker Regan missing out on the squad altogether.
Mears comes in to win his 22nd cap but will start an England game for just the fourth time, while George Chuter comes in on the bench for his first Test appearance since the World Cup.
Leicester flanker Tom Croft is the third change in the starting XV, and he has come in to replace the injured James Haskell who hurt his ankle in Paris.
