Andy Murray and Johanna Konta lead British challenge at US Open
Saturday 5 September 2015 19:35, UK
Andy Murray and Johanna Konta head a star-studded programme that also includes Roger Federer on day six of the US Open at Flushing Meadows.
Murray returns to action following his punishing five-set victory over Adrian Mannarino with a fourth round match against Brazil's Thomaz Bellucci in New York on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports 3.
The world No 3 will feature in the second night match at the Arthur Ashe Stadium as he continues his bid for a second US Open title.
Murray and Bellucci have faced each other once previously, with the world No 30 beating the Brit in the Madrid Masters in 2011.
Murray has admitted he has been battling fatigue and illness to be fit for the match after fighting back from two sets down against Mannarino on Thursday.
"I think quite a few of the players have had sort of a head cold a little bit. In these conditions, obviously it can take its toll later on in the tournament," Murray said.
"But unfortunately you don't always have the luxury of winning matches in straight sets. Sometimes you have to fight through if you're not playing your best."
In the women's draw Johanna Konta plays the opening match of the day on Louis Armstrong Court as she bids to reach the last 16 of the US Open for the first time.
The British No 2 faces 18th seed Andrea Petkovic of Germany in the first meeting between the two players.
In the pick of the day's other matches, Roger Federer faces Phillip Kolschreiber as he continues his quest for an 18th Grand Slam title. Fellow Swiss and fifth seed Stanislas Wawrinka takes on world No 107 Ruben Bemelmans.
In the women's draw, world No 2 Simona Halep plays home favourite Shelby Rogers, Victoria Azarenka takes on fifth seed Angelique Kerber of Germany, and double Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova faces Slovakia's Anna Karolina Schmiedlova.
