Heather Watson came through a three-set battle against Taiwanese qualifier Ya-Hsuan Lee to make the Hong Kong Open quarter-finals.
The British No 2 tore through the opening set without dropping a game but couldn't continue that momentum, allowing herself to be pegged back before wrapping up a 6-0 6-7(5) 6-4 victory.
Watson ultimately had too much for the world No 245, saving seven break points throughout the contest and securing the crucial break in the third game of the decider.
She has set up a last eight clash against either Sam Stosur or Monica Puig.
