Top seed Roger Federer breezed past Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Kukushkin with a 6-1 6-2 win in the first round of the Swiss Indoors Basel.

Federer, who is bidding for a seventh title in his home town of Basel, made short work of Kukushkin to advance to the second round.

The Swiss raced into a 5-0 lead before wrapping up the 22-minute first set, then broke in the fifth and seventh games of the second set for his 54th match win of 2015.
