World No 2 Simona Halep has appointed Australian Darren Cahill as her new coach for next season.

Cahill will start coaching Halep in January 2016 and will continue as a men's tennis analyst on television.

"He will keep his role as men's tennis analyst for the grand slam events which will not prevent him from coaching me full-time," Halep said on her Facebook page.

Former Australia Davis Cup captain Cahill helped fellow Australian, Lleyton Hewitt reach world No 1 and was instrumental in reviving the career of American Andre Agassi.
