The coach of world No 59 tennis player Robin Haase has been arrested in Amsterdam on suspicion of murder.
Mark de Jong, an ex-competitor who now coaches the top-ranked male player in the Netherlands, was detained as he arrived back at Schiphol Airport earlier this week.
De Jong and Haase were met by Dutch police, with the former being arrested in connection over the death of millionaire businessman Koen Everink, who had been stabbed.
The 29-year-old De Jong has been working with Haase for the past two years, following a number of seasons playing on the Challenger circuit.
And after Haase withdrew from the current ATP Tour event in Miami, due to a knee injury, the pair travelled back to Amsterdam.
Haase, a winner of more than $3m in prize money as well as two ATP Tour singles titles, said: "I am shocked. I can't say any more than that at the moment."
According to the Daily Telegraph, former ATP Tour player Raemon Sluiters added: "Koen was close to three Dutch players. I didn't know Koen well but knew him to speak to.
"We saw Robin and Mark here in Miami and they seemed OK, maybe a little down because Robin was worried about his knee. But this is a big shock for everyone."
Everink's body was discovered at his home on March 4 by his daughter.
