Aljaz Bedene was no match for second seed Bernard Tomic in the second round of the Ricoh Open in the Netherlands.

The British No 2 struggled badly with his second serve, winning less than 50 per cent of points as the Australian proved ruthless in a 6-4 6-3 victory.

Bedene allowed only four break points during the entire match but Tomic took three of them and rarely looked troubled on his own serve.

Tomic will take on defending champion Nicolas Mahut in the quarter-finals of the grass court tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch.

Mahut, seeded eight, was taken to three sets by compatriot Pierre-Henri Mathieu but bounced back from early struggles to prevail 4-6 6-1 6-4.
