Tara Moore beaten in quarter-final of Nottingham Open

British No 4 Tara Moore saw her surprise run at the Nottingham Open halted by a 6-2 6-4 quarter-final defeat to China's Saisai Zheng.
Moore had caused quite a stir in front of the home fans, coming through three matches in qualifying to take her place in the main draw.
And during her progress in the tournament proper, she made a mockery of her No 280 world ranking to beat the No 111 Donna Vekic, as well as the No 67 and eighth seed Christina McHale.
However, after rain ended her hopes of play on Friday, Saturday was a busy day for those still involved with both quarter-finals and semi-finals taking place.
But Moore met her match in Zheng who, having already seen off British No 1 Johanna Konta, was too strong for another home favourite, as China's world No 86 came through 6-2 6-4.
Top seed Karolina Pliskova, fourth seed Monica Puig and Alison Riske of the United States were also victorious in other last eight matches.
But Zheng's run through the week came to an end in the last four, beaten 6-1 7-5 by Riske.
The American now faces Pliskova in Sunday's final, following the Czech player's 6-2 6-2 triumph over Puerto Rican Puig.
