Andy Murray defeated the British No 3 Kyle Edmund to progress into the semi-finals of the Aegon Championship.
British No 1 Murray won 6-4 3-6 6-1 against his Davis Cup team-mate, the second consecutive Brit he has beaten this week after previously eliminating Aljaz Bedene.
He will now meet Marin Cilic, who defeated Steve Johnson, in Saturday's semi-finals at Queen's Club as he continues his preparation for Wimbledon.
Edmund, the world No 85, broke Murray's serve in each of the first two sets but ran out of steam down the stretch.
Murray broke ominously at his second attempt but the underdog Edmund hit back immediately with the use of a powerful smash which found success on numerous occasions. A second break for Murray, earned by diving through the air to win a point at the net, was enough to claim the opening set.
Yet Edmund wouldn't lie down, breaking for 3-1 then 4-2 in the second set before holding off a stern challenge from Murray in his final service game to force a decider.
But Murray, as he has done so many times before, stepped up a gear in the decisive set and broke twice to open a five-game lead from which Edmund couldn't recover.
Murray is chasing a record-breaking fifth title at Queen's and his last four opponent will be Cilic, the 2012 champion who Murray beat in the 2013 final.
However before switching focus the 29-year-old had words of praise for Edmund: "I train with Kyle a lot so I know how good he is. He is big, strong and when he is on, he is very tough to play against.
"Kyle is the future of the game in this country. I have felt that in practice and I felt that in the match.
"He served extremely well, but I tried to up my aggression at the start of the third set and thankfully it worked."
In the other half of the draw, Milos Raonic, the third seed will play Bernard Tomic in the last four after Friday's quarter-final matches.
Raonic, now working alongside John McEnroe beat Roberto Bautista Agut in straight sets and it was a routine victory for the Canadian with Bautista Agut feeling the effects of a second match in the day after rain forced his match with Donald Young to be finished on Friday having started on Thursday.
Australian Tomic will provide Raonic's next opponent after he beat Gilles Muller in three sets in the final match of the day.
