Steve Johnson broke his ATP Tour title duck with victory in the final of the Aegon Open in Nottingham.
The American defeated Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas 7-6 7-5 in the final warm-up tournament before Wimbledon starts.
Sixth-seeded Johnson made the most of his three chances to break Cuevas' serve, breaking him twice including in the decisive 12th game of the second set.
Serve had dominated the first set with Johnson winning it on a tie-break as the second-seeded Cuevas made costly mistakes at the wrong time.
Johnson, who pocketed £70,600 for his victory, will begin his Wimbledon campaign against Malek Jaziri of Tunisia on Monday.
"It feels really good, I'm not going to lie," said Johnson, who reached the quarter-finals at Queen's Club last week and will move inside the world's top 30 for the first time.
"I had some ups and downs so far this year. To find my groove on the grass is fantastic. I had a good week at Queen's Club and felt pretty comfortable on the grass.
"Once I got here and played my first couple of matches, I knew I was definitely a contender to win this."
There was also British success to cheer in the doubles competition, where Dominic Inglot and Canadian partner Daniel Nestor beat top seeds Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo 7-5 7-6 in the final.
