Dodig shocks Lopez

Eighth seed Tommy Robredo was beaten 6-3 6-2 by Croatian qualifier Ivan Dodig in the first round of the Stockholm Open.

Eighth seed Tommy Robredo was beaten 6-3 6-2 by Croatian qualifier Ivan Dodig in the first round of the Stockholm Open. It was just the 25-year-old Dodig's seventh win at ATP Tour level this season but it was a truly convincing victory, as he won 90 per cent of points when his first serve was in. He forced five break-point chances in the first set, taking two to claim it 6-3, and there was no way back for world number 42 Robredo as another two breaks of serve dumped the Spaniard out. Sixth seed Feliciano Lopez followed his compatriot out of the tournament as he was well-beaten 6-2 6-2 by Germany's Florian Mayer, while Arnaud Clement defeated Olivier Rochus 6-0 6-4. Benjamin Becker saw off Dutch qualifier Thomas Schoorel 6-3 6-0 and world number 21 Taylor Dent advanced with his 150th Tour win ,as opponent Michal Przysiezny pulled out of their clash with an ankle injury after losing the opening set 6-2. Next up for Dent is a second-round clash against former world number one Roger Federer.
