Nikolay Davydenko rolled back the years with a 6-1 6-1 thrashing of Alexandr Dolgopolov in the opening round of the ATP Cincinnati Masters.
The 31-year-old, once ranked as high as number three in the world, upset the 13th seed in just 52 minutes to set up a clash with either Florian Mayer or Fabio Fognini next.
The Russian converted five of his 10 break-point opportunities to bely a recent run of form that had seen him win just two of his last eight matches.
Dolgopolov recently won the Citi Open in Washington, beating German Tommy Haas in the final, but has since lost twice on the trot. He has now also failed to register a win in Cincinnati in three atempts.

Elsewhere, Brian Baker also pulled of a shock result, the American knocking out 15th-seeded German Philipp Kohlschreiber 7-6 (9/7) 7-6 (7/3).
Marin Cilic suffered no such problems in his opening contest, although the 12th seed was made to work before seeing off Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-3 4-6 6-4.
Jesse Levine won the all-American battle against Donald Young by a 6-4 7-6(7/2) scoreline, while Andreas Seppi of Italy was a 6-4 6-4 winner over Robin Haase of the Netherlands.
There were straight sets wins for Lu Yenhsun, Viktor Troicki, Florian Mayor, Pablo Andujar and Denis Istomin, while Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka won a three-set contest against France's Paul-Henri Mathieu.
The opening day of the women's event saw Mona Barthel, Timea Babos, Anabel Medina Garrigues, Johanna Larsson, Julia Goerges, Eleni Daniilidou and Dominika Cibulkova all progress.
The biggest casualties were the 13th and 14th seeds, Jelena Jankovic and Francesca Schiavone, who lost to Shuai Peng and Camila Giorgi respectively.
