Internationaux de Strasbourg: Americans Madison Keys and Christina McHale into semis

American duo Madison Keys and Christina McHale both booked spots in the semi-finals of the Internationaux de Strasbourg on Thursday.

Keys was a 6-2 2-6 6-2 winner over Julia Goerges, while McHale was the beneficiary of the retirement of her opponent Zarina Diyas.

It will be Keys' second appearance in a WTA Tour semi-final this year after she reached the same stage in Sydney in January, losing to Angelique Kerber.

In the last four the 19-year-old will face Puerto Rico's Monica Puig, who knocked out fourth seed and former champion Andrea Petkovic 6-4 6-4.

McHale was leading Diyas 6-2 3-1 when the Kazakhstan player pulled out. She will next meets Silvia Soler-Espinosa, who was a 3-6 6-4 7-5 winner over Camila Giorgi.
