ATP Kremlin Cup: Marin Cilic beats Tommy Robredo to reach semi-finals

US Open champion Marin Cilic progressed to the semi-finals of the Kremlin Cup with a 6-3 6-3 victory over Tommy Robredo.

As a grand slam winner the Croatian is almost certain of a spot in the season-ending World Tour Finals and took another step towards cementing his place with a comfortable straight-sets win against veteran Spaniard Robredo.

Elsewhere in the semi-finals in Moscow, Mikhail Kukushkin booked a semi-final date with Cilic by beating seventh seed Mikhail Youzhny 1-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-0.

The other semi-final will seed third seed Ernests Gulbis go up against No 5 seed Roberto Bautista Agut after both came through their quarter-final clashes on Friday.

Gulbis was pushed all the way in a 7-6 (8-6) 4-6 7-6 (7-3) win over Andreas Seppi while Bautista Agut had a somewhat easier time as he defeated Ricardas Berankis 7-5 6-3.
