Andy Murray has moved up to third place in the world rankings at Rafa Nadal's expense.
Nadal lost his first semi-final on clay for 12 years this weekend as Italian Fabio Fognini saw off the Spaniard to book his place in the final of the Rio Open - which he lost to David Ferrer.
That defeat dropped Nadal down a spot to fourth in the ATP world rankings with Murray leapfrogging him.
British No 1 Murray was last in action when he crashed out of the World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam 10 days ago in a defeat to Gilles Simon at the quarter-final stage - his first tournament since losing to world No 1 Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final last month.
The 27-year-old Scot is in the draw for this week's Dubai Duty Free Championships where he is seeded third and takes on Luxembourg's Gilles Muller in the first round.
