Samantha Stosur warmed up for next week’s French Open with a 3-6 6-2 6-3 victory over Kristina Mladenovic in the final of the WTA Strasbourg International.
The 31-year-old Australian, who lost to Italian Francesca Schiavone in the 2010 final at Roland Garros, ended hopes of a home victory in the east of France as she rallied from a set down to claim her seventh WTA title.
The Brisbane right-hander reached a career high of four in the world in 2011 after winning the US Open and is now on the brink of breaking back into the top 20 in the rankings.
Mladenovic is one of the rising talents in the French women's game but missed out on a second WTA title after she was outbattled by Stosur after taking the opening set.
The 22-year-old now heads to Paris bidding to improve on her performance last year when she reached the third round of the French Open, although she faces a tough start against world No 6 Eugenie Bouchard of Canada.
Stosur plays American Madison Brengle in the first round at Roland Garros.
