Great Britain's Naomi Broady continued to break new ground as she reached the semi-finals of the Coupe Banque Nationale in Quebec with victory over Anna Tatishvili on Friday.

Playing in her first ever WTA quarter-final, the 25-year-old from Stockport upset the odds against the American world No 102 by fighting back from a set down to seal a 3-6 7-5 6-3 win in a strength-sapping tie that lasted almost two hours.

Broady, who gained entry to the tournament as a 'lucky loser' after losing in qualifying, will face Jelena Ostapenko for a place in the final after the Latvian strolled to a 6-0 6-1 success against Poland's Paula Kania.

The other semi-final will see defending champion and second seed Mirjana Lucic-Baroni tackle German fifth seed Annika Beck after they overcame Samantha Crawford and Lucie Hradecka respectively.
