Argentine upset by world No.111 at exhibition event

Juan Martin Del Potro suffered a shock defeat in his final match before the French Open. The Argentine, regarded by many as a dangerous outsider at Roland Garros where he made the semi-finals in 2009, was beaten 7-6 6-4 by Simone Bolelli at the Masters Guinot Mary Cohr exhibition event. The Italian claycourt specialist is ranked just 111th in the world, but del Potro is unlikely to be too concerned - he only stepped in to play when Gael Monfils opted out at the weekend. The day's other matches brought joy to the local players with both Paul-Henri Mathieu and Michael Llodra winning. Mathieu, on the comeback trail after a long spell out due to injury, recorded an impressive 6-1 6-3 win over Kevin Anderson. The Frenchman has been granted a wild card for Roland Garros.

Comfortable

Llodra was also a comfortable winner. He beat Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-1 6-4 in Paris. Andy Murray completes his French Open preparation at the event on Thursday when he faces Ernests Gulbis. However, Milos Raonic will not be in action - he has withdrawn, so his fellow Canadian Vasek Pospisil will now play Fernando Verdasco.
