Frenchwoman eases past Obziler in Guangzhou final

France's Virginie Razzano claimed her maiden WTA title after easily overcoming Israel's Tzipora Obziler in the final of the Guangzhou International Women's Open. The 24-year-old from Nimes ensured it was third time lucky as she emerged victorious in her third career final appearance as she overpowered Obziler 6-0 6-3. The number two seed was understandably delighted with her triumph but also confessed to a little shock. Razzano insisted she had opted to play in the event in China to prepare herself for forthcoming events in the Far East and was not expecting to clinch the first title of her career. "I came to get used to the conditions of playing in Asia," she stated. "I didn't play at the Beijing tournament so I came to train here. "I didn't expect to play well before Tokyo (next week) and Bangkok (October 8). I was pleasantly surprised to play so well throughout the week." Despite her defeat, Obziler was also pleased with her efforts in China, adding: "I had a very good week. "It's disappointing to lose, but maybe next time I can manage it better. I beat some higher ranked players and it was a great feeling to get to the final. "A year ago, I made my first semi-final here and this year I went one better, so I'm very pleased with my week."
