Jose Acasuso eased into the quarter-finals of the Movistar Open on Wednesday with a straight-sets defeat of Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver. The seventh-seeded Argentinian, who won the singles and doubles here in 2006, was never troubled on his way to a 6-2 6-2 triumph. Up next for Acasuso is the winner of Wednesday's second-round match between fourth seed Fernando Verdasco of Spain and unseeded Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay. Argentinian Juan Pablo Brzezicki also defeated a Spaniard on Wednesday, beating Marcel Granollers-Pujol 6-2 6-2. Brzezicki next faces the winner of Wednesday's match between third-seeded Argentinian Juan Monaco and countryman Martin Vassallo Arguello.
