Kyle Edmund’s dream of a maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open may have ended with a semi-final defeat by Marin Cilic but the British No 2’s success story in Melbourne is unlikely to be forgotten in a hurry.
Much of the pre-tournament noises regarding British hopes in the men's singles, in the absence of three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray, were of doom and gloom but that soon changed with Edmund's exploits - two career best Tour level victories and becoming the first unseeded male to reach the last four at a Grand Slam since 2008.
After Edmund's memorable fortnight at Melbourne Park, he has risen to a career high 26 in the world rankings and is just six spots behind Murray as Britain's no 1 - we take a look at the numbers from the 23-year-old's unexpected deep run at the season's opening Grand Slam.
