Dustin Brown could not repeat his second-round heroics at Wimbledon as he slumped to defeat by Viktor Troicki on Saturday.

The 30-year-old dreadlocked German lit up the tournament on Thursday with his free-flowing, unorthodox serve-and-volley style when he stunned the tennis world by conquering two-time champion Rafael Nadal on Centre Court.

But qualifier Brown, whose father is Jamaican and mother is German, rarely threatened the 22nd-seeded Troicki in a 6-4 7-6 (7-3) 4-6 6-3 loss.

Brown insisted it was great to play at Wimbledon and the prize money of £77,000 would be helpful, but financing his career remained an uphill battle.

"It's one great week, obviously a lot of money," Brown said. "But there's also so many weeks where we throw money out the window basically, just for flights and food. That's just for us alone.

"Obviously having the pleasure and being able to play on Centre Court and to play a match like that against Nadal, it doesn't make a difference if I lost today or not. No-one will ever be able to take that away from me,"

After losing the first two sets and briefly fighting back to take the third, Brown could not keep up the momentum.

More from Wimbledon 2015

He was broken twice in the fourth set and served an untimely double fault on Troicki's second match point to bow out.

Troicki, who equalled his best grand slam performance by reaching the round of 16, will next face Canada's Vasek Pospisil for a spot in the quarter-finals.

Marin Cilic: Relief after coming through 270 minutes of tennis against John Isner

After their epic unfinished battle on Friday, Marin Cilic swiftly wrapped up this sizzling five-setter by taking the first two games of the day to beat John Isner 7-6 (7-4) 6-7 (6-8) 6-4 6-7 (4-7) 12-10.

The second game of the day went to five deuces before the Croat picked off the American to complete his victory on Court One that lasted 4 hours 30 minutes.

Isner famously beat Nicolas Mahut 70-68 in the final set of the longest match in tennis history at Wimbledon five years ago, but defeat to Cilic means the 30-year-old has yet to go beyond the third round in his Grand Slam career in London.

 Ivo Karlovic plays a forehand

Meanwhile, Croatia's Ivo Karlovic became the oldest man in 39 years to reach the Wimbledon last-16 as he defeated French 13th seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

The 36-year-old smashed 41 aces past Tsonga in a 7-6 (7-3) 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 7-6 (11-9) win and will now face Andy Murray in the fourth round.

Karlovic is the oldest man to make the fourth round at the All England Club since compatriot Niki Pilic in 1976.

"I feel good. It will not be easy against Murray in the next round, but if I continue serving like this I will definitely have an opportunity," he said.

"I know every game is different, so I always try to start serving well, and if it's a lot of aces then things get easier.

"Each point is a new one, so I don't feel like anyone can beat me. I just always go on to the next one, the next point.

"I've never beaten Murray, so now it's an opportunity to. I feel good, I like what I do. I'm having fun.

"So I don't know how it will turn out, but I have a chance, for sure."

Czech sixth seed Tomas Berdych overcame an early scare to defeat Spaniard Pablo Andujar 4-6 6-0 6-3 7-6 (7-3).

Berdych will now meet Gilles Simon after the Frenchman beat compatriot and friend Gael Monfils in a hard-fought
five-set scrap.

Bad light stopped play on Court One just past 9pm but the action moved to the vacant Centre Court, with the roof shut and lights on.

Monfils rallied after that switch, but Simon recovered his poise to triumph 3-6 6-3 7-6 (8-6) 2-6 6-2.
