Gilles Simon retained his BCR Romania Open title with a straight-sets victory over Carlos Moya in the final. The Frenchman, seeded second in Bucharest, broke serve once in each set to script a 6-3 6-4 win in 90 minutes. Simon, 23, now has three ATP tour titles to his name this season having also triumphed in Casablanca and Indianapolis. "I like this tournament and its (clay) surface - I've always played well here," he said. For Moya, the former world number one and 1998 French Open champion, it was his second loss in the final of this event, 12 years after the first.
