Chilean eases to fourth title on clay at Vina del Mar

Fernando Gonzalez retained the Movistar Open title with a comfortable straight sets win over Jose Acasuso in Vina del Mar. The Chilean triumphed 6-1 6-3 to take the event for a fourth time on home soil - he also won it in 2002, 2004 and 2008. Gonzalez's routine victory means he went through the entire week without dropping a set, not even facing a break point on his own serve in his last three matches. "Every player dreams to win a title in his home country in front of his crowd. I'm happy to have done it four times and I can only hope this wasn't the last time," he said.

Energy

"It is always fantastic to feel the energy from the crowd. There's nothing better than this. "I would like to thank (Acasuso) for letting me win the title. He is a great friend of mine and if I hadn't won, the trophy would still be in good hands." Acasuso never threatened to upset the favourite, the fourth seed failing to put up a fight in the first set before finally showing some resistance in the second. However, the 26-year-old - who had battled back from a set down to knock out second seed Tommy Robredo in the semi-finals - double-faulted in the eighth game to give his opponent a 5-3 lead. Gonzalez duly wrapped up victory to secure his 11th ATP title in his 22nd career final and extend his record against Acasuso to 8-2.
