Captain Lloyd to make decision on selection after Friday's matches

Chris Eaton and Josh Goodall made it two wins from two in the latest round of matches in the play-offs for a place in Great Britain's Davis Cup team. The sytem, put in place by captain John Lloyd, will decide who will join Andy Murray and Ross Hutchins in the side for the tie against Ukraine in March. Having already recorded a victory over Alex Slabinsky on Monday, Eaton maintained his perfect record by seeing off James Ward. However, the world number 390 was pushed all the way by his compatriot in a match that saw the two players on court for nearly seven hours, inlcuding a marathon deciding set. Eventually, Eaton - who rose to prominence at Wimbledon last year when he reached the second round - triumphed 6-3 6-2 6-7 (3-7) 2-6 21-19. He will now hope to keep his winning run going in the final round of matches on Friday, as will Goodall, his major rival for the one berth available. The British number three needed five sets as well to beat Slabinsky 6-3 3-6 7-5 4-6 6-2. In the day's other match, Colin Fleming beat youngster Dan Evans 7-5 6-2 0-6 6-0.
