Sixth seed warms up for Wimbledon with maiden grass title

Caroline Wozniacki established her credentials for Wimbledon with victory in the AEGON International at Eastbourne. The 18-year-old Danish sixth seed, who was Wimbledon junior champion three years ago, overcame France's Virginie Razzano 7-6 (7-5) 7-5 in Saturday's final. Razzano, who beat top seed Elena Dementieva of Russia in the second round, was broken in the sixth game and, despite breaking back as Wozniacki served for the set at 5-3, she eventually went down in the tie-break. Wozniacki, who will be seeded ninth at Wimbledon, then went on to succeed 7-5 in the second set when Razzano netted with a soft backhand. "It's my first title on grass so that means a lot to me," Wozniacki said afterwards. "I wish I could have closed it off a little bit earlier but it doesn't matter how I won so that is the main thing and I am happy."
