Scot's odds cut after fourth-round triumph in Melbourne
Andy Murray's Australian Open odds have been slashed from 6/1 to 4/1 after he cruised through to the quarter-finals while fifth favourite Robin Soderling crashed out.
The British number one booked his place in the final eight, where he was expected to meet the Swede who recently replaced him as the world number four, with another imperious display in beating Jurgen Melzer in straight sets.
The Scot is 1/9 to overcome Soderling's conqueror, 66/1 outsider Alexandr Dolgopolov, but is 8/13 to crash out at the semi-final stage, where he looks set to face world number one Rafael Nadal who is, like Murray, yet to drop a set at Melbourne Park this year.
The Spaniard is 11/8 favourite to triumph Down Under and clinch his fourth-successive Grand Slam, while Roger Federer is 2/1 to retain the title ahead of his quarter-final clash with fellow Swiss Stan Wawrinka tonight.
The tie of the final eight sees 13/2 fourth favourite Novak Djokovic face last year's Wimbledon finalist Tomas Berdych in the evening session, for which the 2008 Australian Open champion is 1/3 favourite to progress.
Sky Bet's Chris Kennedy said: "Murray's odds tumbled to 4/1 after his easy fourth-round win over world number 11 Melzer. His draw to the semi-finals has opened up with the shock exit of Soderling but he still faces potential blockbusters with Nadal and Federer in the semis and final. However, punters are undeterred as they sweep up the 4/1 on him claiming his maiden Grand Slam."
