Watch Latvian tennis star Ernests Gulbis lose his rag in spectacular style at this week's Monte Carlo Masters

Latvia's Ernests Gulbis has long been regarded as one of tennis' more lively characters, described variously as anything from a playboy to a loose cannon. Renowned as much as for his on-courts strops as for his undeniably gifted and powerful all-round game, Gulbis has entertained and frustrated in equal measure over the years. The 24-year-old looked to have turned over a new leaf this season as he rededicated himself to the game, winning the Delray Beach International in Florida last month. However, Ernests demonstrated there is still plenty of fire in his belly during his second round defeat against Juan Monaco at the Monte Carlo Masters this week. Having already received a warning for smashing his racket, Gulbis was deducted first a point for booting a ball into the crowds and then a whole game after thumping another racket into the umpire's chair! Rather unsurprisngly he went on to lose the three-set battle, but ensured the crowds would remember his performance!
