Wild card Sabine Lisicki will meet Czech Karolina Pliskova in the final of the Hong Kong Open after a hard-fought victory over Francesca Schiavone.
The top-seeded German came through in three sets against the former French Open champion and now has a chance to secure her first WTA title since her success in Dallas over three years ago.
Big-hitting Lisicki managed to stave off seven of the 10 break points she faced against the Italian to emerge a 6-3 3-6 6-2 winner after two hours on court.
Lisicki's opponent in the final will be third seed Pliskova, who also needed three sets to overcome Belgium's Alison van Uytvanck in their semi.
World No 36 Pliskova raced away with the opening set but then dropped the second, before recovering to post a 6-1 4-6 6-4 victory.
