Richard Gasquet and Andreas Seppi both progressed in straight sets into the quarter-finals of the Shenzhen Open on Wednesday, while Tommy Robredo had to come from behind to win.
Third seed Gasquet was made to work for his 6-3 6-2 victory over Luxembourg’s Gilles Muller, saving all six of the break points that he faced.
The Frenchman next faces Argentina’s Juan Monaco, who overcame big-hitting seventh seed Vasek Pospisil 7-5 2-6 6-3.
Things were easier for Italian eighth seed Andreas Seppi, who beat compatriot Simone Bolelli 6-4 6-3 to set up a quarter-final clash with Robredo.
The Spanish fourth seed had to battle back from a set down to eventually beat Australia’s Sam Groth 1-6 7-5 6-3.
