Andy Murray’s brother Jamie lost in the doubles final of the ABN Amro Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam.

Murray and partner John Peers were beaten 3-6 6-3 10-8 by third seeds Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau at the end of a week in which they enjoyed their fair share of good fortune.

They were beaten in qualifying by British duo Colin Fleming and Jonny Marray but were given a reprieve when Andy Murray’s doubles partner, Gilles Muller, had to pull out of the tournament through illness.

That resulted in Murray and Peers securing a spot in the main draw and they had another lucky break with a walkover in the quarter-finals when French top seeds Julien Benneteau and Edouard Roger-Vasselin withdrew through injury.

A three-set win over Dominic Inglot and Florin Mergea in Saturday's semi-finals earned Murray and Peers a shot at the trophy but their challenge was halted in the final after 69 minutes.

Murray's run to the final will at least have helped his Davis Cup hopes, with the Great Britain squad to face the United States in the first round of World Group matches due to be named later this month.
