Former Monday Night Raw General Manager Brad Maddox has been released by WWE.

Maddox debuted on the main roster in 2012 as a referee, with his most notable match when he was paid by Paul Heyman to help CM Punk defeat Ryback at Hell in a Cell to retain the WWE Title.

The South Carolina-born star would then fail in his attempts to earn a wrestler's contract following defeats to the likes of Ryback, Randy Orton, Sheamus and The Great Khali.

But he was a prominent figure on WWE programming in 2013 and 2014, firstly acting as assistant to Raw General Manager Vickie Guerrero and then taking the top job after she was fired.

Maddox was relieved of his duties on the red brand in May 2014 following an attack by Kane and most recently had formed a tag team with Adam Rose.
