Golderg has refused to rule out a return to WWE - or a rematch with Brock Lesnar.
The two-time world champion has been linked with a comeback ever since he was included as a playable character in WWE's latest video game, 2K17.
Goldberg last wrestled for WWE at WrestleMania XX in 2004, where he beat Brock Lesnar at Madison Square Garden in New York.
"I'm an old man, here, I'm 49 years old," said the powerhouse during an interview with ESPN on Wednesday night.
"A guy like Ric Flair at 49 can go out and do his character, a guy at 49 to go out and do Goldberg again? I don't know what the odds are."
"I think that if anyone could do it, it would be me, but it's something I've got to think about - I'm going to do a lot of soul-searching and decide.
"I've got a 10-year-old boy and a wife who's never seen me wrestle and a generation of kids who don't know who the hell I am except for looking online.
"Being Golderg gave me the ability to be a superhero for kids and I want the ability to be that guy again, but there's a compromise there.
"To be that guy at 49 years old, do you risk losing your legacy? Is it smart? Is it something I'll regret?"
Lesnar also left WWE after WrestleMania XX in order to pursue an NFL career, but re-signed with the company in April 2012.
The Beast Incarnate has since ended Undertaker's undefeated streak at WrestleMania and earned a fourth reign as world champion.
"There's a plethora of people but I'd be remiss in saying I don't owe Lesnar a rematch," added Goldberg.
"I had my hand raised in the first meeting and if I ever came back that would be the match.
"I'd have to work my ass off is Brock is a like a superhero-alien guy - big, strong, fast and mean - but I beat him once…"
