1997 - The year of the first Hell in a Cell Match

Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker were the first two Superstars to step inside Hell in a Cell, the wrestling legends going on-on-one for a shot at the WWE Championship, then held by Bret Hart. Except the match wasn't settled one-on-one, with The Undertaker's half-brother Kane interfering on his WWE debut. The Big Red Monster pulled the Cell door from its hinges, before blasting The Phenom with a Tombstone Piledriver, a move which allowed Michaels to secure the pinfall win.

20 - The height in feet of the Hell in a Cell structure

The first 13 Hell in a Cell bouts were fought in a 16ft Cell but the structure was amplified in 2006, with D-Generation X (Triple H and Shawn Michaels) versus Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon and the Big Show the first match inside the heightened structure. The first Cell was also light compared to the updated version - weighing just over two tons compared to the current one's five tons.

Are you a font of knowledge on Hell in a Cell?

14 - Undertaker's record number of appearances

No one has been in more Cell matches than the Undertaker, with The Phenom in the first, the most recent (against Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 32 in April) and 12 in between. Taker has recorded eight victories in that time, with Mankind, Randy Orton, CM Punk, and Triple H among his victims, but he has also suffered a number of bruising defeats, including two at the hands of Brock Lesnar.

47m 26s - The time of longest HIAC match (Triple H v Shawn Michaels)

Michaels and Triple met in what Jim Ross would call a slobberknocker at Bad Blood in 2004, wrestling for nearly 50 minutes. Both Superstars spilled claret during the match - Triple H when he was thrown into the Cell wall, Michaels when he was clobbered with the steel steps - with The Game triumphing after blasting The Heartbreak Kid with a Pedigree.

3 - The number of title changes inside Hell in a Cell

As perilous as the Hell in a Cell compound can be, it has been pretty kind to defending champions. There have been 15 word championship matches inside the Cell and only three title switches - Randy Orton and The Undertaker beating John Cena and CM Punk respectively in 2009, and Alberto Del Rio knocking off champion Cena as well as fellow challenger Punk in a Triple Threat in 2011.

2 - The number of Hell in a Cell Matches on Raw

Hell in a Cell scuffles are usually reserved for pay-per-views but a couple have been contested on WWE's flagship show, Raw. Mankind and Kane were involved in both - teaming up to take on Undertaker and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in June 1998, before facing each other in August of that year in a match that yielded no winner when Austin rushed to the ring to beat up Kane.

0 - Mick Foley's number of Hell in a Cell wins

Foley competed as Mankind and Cactus Jack inside the Cell but could not triumph under either guise. He lost as Mankind to The Undertaker in the most memorable Cell scrap of all time in 1998 - falling both off the Cell and through it - and was then conquered by Triple H while performing as Cactus Jack in 2000, when, once again, he took a tumble through the Cell roof.
