Seth Rollins left Monday Night Raw on crutches after re-injuring his knee, WWE has revealed.

Seth Rollins re-injured his right knee on Monday Night Raw and will be evaluated further later this week, WWE has announced.

Rollins left the Laredo Energy Arena in Texas on crutches after an attack by NXT Superstar Samoa Joe in the closing stages of Monday's show.

He has tweeted a photo of his knee undergoing an initial examination.

The 30-year-old was forced to miss nearly seven months of action after tearing his ACL, MCL and medial meniscus while wrestling a match against Kane in Dublin in November 2015.

Rollins had to vacate his world title and miss the WrestleMania 32 pay-per-view, before returning to in-ring action in June 2016.

Rollins wrote on Twitter: "Life doesn't always go your way, but that is no excuse to surrender. If anything, obstacles exist to help us grow and evolve.

"This re-injury to my surgically repaired knee is real and a lot is up in the air right now, but one thing remains constant: my resolve."

The Architect recently revealed that he wanted to face Triple H at WrestleMania 33 in April after The Game stopped him winning the Universal Title over the summer.

Rollins gate-crashed NXT's TakeOver event on Saturday to call out Triple H, leading to the WWE COO having him escorted from the building.

Triple H seemed set to engage with Rollins on Raw - until former two-time NXT Champion Joe launched a shock assault.

"This doesn't end for me until I've reclaimed the throne - and for me, fighting and defeating Triple H is the only way," Rollins added.

"I will work harder than I ever have and push myself beyond what I know. This isn't over. The only way to wear the crown is to slay the king.

"I know what must be done and there's nothing that can stop me."
