Bray Wyatt, Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar, The Miz had differing fortunes before WrestleMania
Friday 31 March 2017 16:40, UK
The most talked about wrestling event of the year is finally upon us, and with all the matches now officially announced, this week presented the final build-up to WrestleMania this Sunday.
Good Week
Bray Wyatt
Bray Wyatt walks into WrestleMania on Sunday as the underdog against his former family member and 12-time world champion Randy Orton. Wyatt has never main evented WrestleMania, unlike the man he stands across the ring from, but this week he made sure he sent a message to Orton using his former friend Luke Harper.
Wyatt and Harper collided on SmackDown in what was a fantastic main event, one that was once rumoured to be happening at WrestleMania. Wyatt came out on top and finally swung the momentum into his favour ahead of the biggest match of his career.
Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins has been put through it over the past few weeks, it was only two months ago that the WWE Universe did not think he would make it to WrestleMania, but this week, he proved that he was ready. Rollins signed the contract for a match that he knows could be career ending, especially given that his knee still is not 100 percent.
Triple H also tried to attack Rollins once again but this time The Architect had it well scouted and showed The Game why he was once considered to be his greatest creation. Their match at WrestleMania is among the most highly anticipated of the night, mostly because it could still go either way.
Nia Jax
Nia Jax was given the opportunity to be part of the WrestleMania Women's Championship match last week on Raw and it seems that she is not taking it for granted. This week she took out all three of her opponents when it was made clear that the match will now be a fatal-4-way elimination match for the Raw Women's Championship.
Only one woman was left standing on Raw this week, and that was the former NXT star and the most dominant female force in WWE. Can Nia defy the odds again this Sunday?
Bad Week
Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar takes on Goldberg in the main event of WrestleMania for the Universal Championship this weekend. Ahead of the match, Paul Heyman delivered some home truths to Goldberg and it seemed as though Lesnar had finally got the upper hand.
After an incredible F5 a few weeks ago, Lesnar was once again put down by Goldberg when he delivered a spear on the outside of the ring. This will be the third showdown between these two and the last chance that Lesnar has to defeat Goldberg, right now it doesn't seem as though Lesnar will be able to step up to the challenge.
The Miz and Maryse
It is hard not to feel bad for WWE's 'It' couple, they made so many Total Divas episodes to make John Cena and Nikki look bad ahead of their mixed tag-team match, but all it took was for Cena to deliver an incredible promo to stop any momentum Miz had created.
Miz is not on par with Cena when it comes to promos and this was proved this week on SmackDown with the 16-time Champion delivering one of the best segments on WWE TV this week. Cena has been on fire recently and sadly for Miz and Maryse, they are the ones who were put in his way, hopefully, that all changes this weekend.
The Usos
The Uso brothers finally lifted the SmackDown Tag Team Championships last week and now they are the only superstars who are not defending their titles at WrestleMania. WWE have instead made the decision to add The Usos to The Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, as a way to make up the numbers.
The Tag Team Championships should have been on the line with The Usos taking on American Alpha instead of being wasted in the Battle Royal, the fact that Raw's titles are being defended and SmackDown's are not does not look good for the blue brand or the current reign of The Usos.
