SmackDown kicked off 2018 with a bang as an action-packed episode added a few pre-Royal Rumble twists and turns.

There were four matches in total, with the tag battle between Breezango and the Bludgeon Brothers descending into chaos before the bell had even rung.

We saw a SmackDown tag team title defence, a triple-tag team match in the women's division and the advancement of Xavier Woods to the semi-finals of the United States championship tournament at the expense of Aiden English.

There was also the small matter of the match between Sami Zayn and AJ Styles, a contest which has led to Zayn and Kevin Owens facing the WWE Champion in a two-against-one handicap match at the Royal Rumble.
