Verdict

Mark Johnston is responsible for half of this 10-strong field and will be hopeful of taking home the lion's share of the prize money as Broughton will be popular after winning a valuable handicap at Goodwood and Bushel won at Ripon on Tuesday, though has a 3lb penalty to carry here. Royal Skies was fancied for another competitive affair at Goodwood but could only manage sixth place and is probably high enough in the weights at present. Cardinal Palace won by 11 lengths at Bellewstown last month but it's difficult to get an angle on that form and he's another with his fair share of weight. Godolphin may hold the key to this with Charlie Appleby's CHESTERFIELD preferred to Saeed bin Suroor's Wadi Al Hattawi, who may need a bit further. The former showed a fine turn of foot to score at Newbury last month and probably has more to offer.
