In depth

Verdict

RAINY CITY jumped well and cane readily clear of toiling rivals at Perth 12 days ago. He’s gone up 7lb but confidence should have been boosted by that first win over fences and a follow-up may be on the cards. Gold Opera came right back to form at Newcastle but could find quicker conditions here against him. Ulis De Vassy won last time at Southwell and the second ran well at Uttoxeter on Saturday while Angus Milan hasn’t been disgraced at Thurles since scoring here in March. Lough Derg Jewel looks high enough in the weights now, however, and Martiloo is hard to win with.
