Verdict

A tough contest to call and a fair bit may depend on conditions on the day but without that knowledge we will side with SILVERTREES. Alan Swinbank's charge has at least got experience on good and softer ground in two starts which have yielded a debut Haydock success and then a very good effort to be runner-up in the Group 3 Acomb Stakes at York last month. Any improvement would make him very tough to beat. Goldenveil routed an ordinary maiden field here and now steps up in both trip and grade, but is respected. A Southside Boy may need it and pedigree suggests that he will improve for the run and softer ground, while Red Presence is not ruled out after causing an upset at Redcar last time. Cafe Elektric has made a nice start to his career but would appear to have a bit to find with our pick Silvertrees.
