In depth

Verdict

A small field for this opener and hardy the most exciting form on offer. Of those who have run, Charlotti Carlotti holds the best form and gets the nomination ahead of Rievaulx Valentino. The selection finished second on her racecourse debut at Thirsk and was then well-held in a strong Listed Contest at Beverley. She was on the 'wrong side' that day however so she deserves some credit and with the ground to suit today, she looks worth siding with to get her head in front. Rievaulx Valentino improved on his debut run when second in a Beverley maiden and if he continues his upwards progression then he should be involved in the finish although the stable's horses are not exactly flying at present. On the other hand James Given's runners are in good form and Myriola comes here with a solid chance. She may have had valid excuses for her last two runs (ground too quick and unsuited by Southwell's surface) and based on her debut, she has a chance. At a price Rio Sabotini could go well if improving on his debut run, however for the winner we will return to Charlotti Carlotti.
